Investors and issuers of Australian securities use Austraclear (the Australian Central Depository system) for settlement services for OTC derivatives. It is also used for derivatives trading on the SFE and ASX markets.

By maintaining your securities in Austraclear, your organisation gains access to an efficient custodian and settlement service including access to settlements which clear using RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) funds.

As part of this service, we capture the Austraclear deal information, typically by viewing the data recorded in the Quantum system (generated by Oakvale dealers or Acorn users).

This information is subsequently processed using our Austraclear connection and our client’s Austraclear specific code. Cash is moved by Austraclear across a pre-nominated bank account, and stock is lodged simultaneously against our client’s own holding in safe custody.

As only perfectly matched trades can be lodged in the system, the vast majority of errors are eliminated. The process is also safeguarded and streamlined by the fact that all securities are held in Austraclear in safe custody rather than in multiple bank accounts.

As a client, you will receive daily movement and safe custody reports to assist with bank reconciliations. In addition, audit letters can be sent directly from Austraclear to your auditors at any time.  Oakvale Treasury can also assist you with the application process.

Oakvale is an existing member of Austraclear and can be selected as a proxy on your organisation’s behalf, with investments recorded in your organisation’s name.
